Please welcome Mwamini who will be with us until the end of May! Mwamini is a nursing student and has experience with Parks Canada as a leader at their summer Learn to Camp program. Born in Congo (DRC) she has worked with the YMCA, HRCE and NS Teacher Union to create resources for teachers to help newcomer students integrate into the Canadian School system.
Mwamini come to us through the YWCA’s “Ready For Launch” program. Here she hopes to gain experience that will support her in her nursing career.
Here’s a little from Mwamini: “[I’m] looking forward to honing my communication skills, particularly when interacting with individuals who may have sensory impairments. I'm also eager to observe and assist with various activities such as exercise and by doing so, I aim to develop a more nuanced understanding of the complex healthcare needs of seniors.
I’m confident that this experience will not only shape me into a more compassionate and competent nurse in the future but also leave an ineradicable mark on my heart.
Excited to build relationships by getting to know the seniors and forming meaningful connections.
Learn about the diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives of the seniors and staff.
I hope to learn, grow and make a positive impact on the lives of the seniors I will be working with, and I hope to be a source of comfort, support and joy for the seniors at Spencer House even if it’s just through simple conversations or shared activities. To learn, grow and make a positive impact on the lives of the seniors I will be working with.”
Since joining our team, Mwamini has already made a wonderful impression. Those who have had the chance to meet her have quickly noticed her compassion and intelligence, great sense of humor, kindness, and approachable nature. She’s been a fantastic addition to our team, and we’re thrilled to have her on board. We look forward to working with her and seeing the positive impact she will bring!
If you run into Mwamini make sure to say hello and introduce yourself!
